ICELAND TREKKING CABINS

Iceland

Competition Entry

2016

'Stacked Bothy'

A competition entry for a trekking cabin in the Icelandic wilderness. The project sought inspiration from both traditional Icelandic architecture and Scottish and Nordic 'Bothy' architecture to create a contemporary structure.

Using lightweight but robust materials and a contemporary approach to timber kit construction the structure could be prefabricated and assembled on site as a kit of parts. Cross Laminated Timber construction would allow both a speedy construction process, a sustainable approach and a solid and reliable structure.
